Age norms compare how a student performed relative to other children of the same age, and grade norms compare how a student performed relative to other children in the same grade. The CogAT uses two types of norms when tests are scored: age norms, and grade norms. Downloadable versions of our CogAT tests are also available for Mac and PC users. Each practice test booklet contains 1 full-length exam and comes with the answers and explanations. With Mercer Publishing’s full-length Practice tests, your child will experience the same format and number of questions as the actual exam. The best way to prepare for the CogAT test is by exposing your child to the exam format and the types of questions they will see on the day of the test. With administration time, the CogAT form 7 and 8 take between 2-3 hours to complete.įor a more in-depth description of the CogAT exam, visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. The CogAT form 7 and the CogAT form 8 are identical in the number of questions per sub-test. Each sub-test group contains 10-25 questions depending on grade level and which form of the test your child will be taking. Each battery is made up of 3 sub-tests groups, which contain specific format for that sub-test. The CogAT test is made up of three sections called batteries (verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative).
